Friends and Benefactors - join us | ||||||
Without the generous support of our Friends and Benefactors, the Clerks Choral would not be able to continue its valuable work. The Select Vestry is most grateful to the many Friends and Benefactors for their generosity. However, there is an urgent need to increase the number of Friends and Benefactors for the future sustainablilty of this choral foundation. 100% of your money is used directly for the work of the Clerks Choral and accounts are published each year. Names are listed (unless you request otherwise - see the 'foundation' link) but all details of the actual amounts donated are kept completely confidential. The scheme funds three areas of expense: I) Honorarium and travelling expenses of the Clerks. Full time students and professional musicians are paid a modest stipend for their time and skills and drivers are offered their petrol expenses. II) Capital expenses / one-off expenses connected with the life of the choir. Recent examples include music, music folders, robes and printing. III) Low cost administration. Under 2% is spent on things like postage, stationary, telephone calls and photocopying. But what can I expect in return? Firstly the certain knowledge that you are directly responsible for the success of some of these things: * Unique educational opportunities for young musicians. * The living heritage of the ancient town of Youghal and St. Mary's Collegiate Church. * Arts music in East Cork. * High-quality choral music in the Church of Ireland / the Anglican (Episcopal) tradition. Secondly, you can expect to be kept up to date with all news of the progress of the Clerks and you will be invited to an annual Friends' service and reception. Friends & Benefactors are listed (unless they request otherwise) on all important publications concerning the Clerks and on all concert programmes. This is to reflect the great importance of the place of our Friends and Benefactors. Thirdly, St. Mary's Collegiate Church has charitable status with the Charity Commissioners (CHY 7240). If you are self-employed or in business it may be possible to reduce your tax liability by making a donation to this special cause. What does it cost? As a guide, 'individual' Friends are asked to donate at least Eur25 - Eur55 per year, or Eur35 - Eur75 per year for a couple or family 'syndicate'. Benefactors (organisations, trusts, businesses as well as individuals) are asked to consider donating Eur250 - 550 per year. How do I donate? It's easy. Please click on the link below. A page will open (pdf), which you should print out and send off to us here. The address and all instructions are on the form. Thank you, most sincerely, for considering becoming a Friend or Benefactor. |
